Oriental Palace found in Tomas Morato is a restaurant that mainly serves authentic Chinese dishes is busy preparing for the upcoming holiday.  The restaurant has a total floor area of 1,200 sqm and has a seating capacity of 800 people. The restaurant is very proud to serve quality ingredients from top suppliers and main herbs and spices imported from Hong Kong to achieve the authentic Chinese taste. The patriarch of the family handpicks the freshest catch of the every single day to help ensure that only the best is served every day.

For the upcoming Chinese New year, they consulted Mr. Johnson Chua, an esteemed Feng Shui expert, to help them arrange a menu that will surely help you bring luck in 2016.

  1. Abundance Set Menu is believed to help bring in various opportunities related to career and business - Price: P15,800.

  2. Prosperity Set Menu is believed to help one’s livelihood prosper and bring luck related to wealth and status. – Price: P18,800.

  3. Good Fortune Set Menu also known as Emperor’s Set Menu is believed to help abundance, happiness and good fortune. – Price: P25,800

The menu is good for 12-15 people, very appropriate for the whole family. Everything is delicious and has that authentic Chinese taste but in my opinion some food items deserve more highlight because it was just so damn good.

  1. Whole Suckling Pig – I am Filipino so I am accustomed to lechon or cripy pork, but their version just takes everything to a whole new level. It was perfectly crisp and the flavor is just right. Not salty or overpowering, every bite is savory and you don’t even need sauce. It was delicious! Don’t just take my word for it. Go and try it! You won’t regret it.

  2. Steamed Live Rock Lobster with Garlic – The Garlic and light soy sauce is a perfect combination for the lobster.  The sauce greatly compliments the steamed lobster.

  3. Polo Pao and Asado Pao- I am in love with these pastries! I love how the polo pao is buttery and crumbs when you bite it. I love that you don’t even need sauce, because the meat inside has its own sauce so you don’t feel that it's dry.

In the Chinese lunar calendar, each year is represented by an animal from the Chinese zodiac cycle.  2016 is the year of the Red Fire Monkey. Monkeys are wonderful to be around because they are fun, creative and possess stamina. Red and Fire means strong, passion, creativity and joy.  Although they possess good qualities, they also tend to jump ahead without caution. So something to calm your mind will be helpful.

Oriental Palace is a great place to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New year or any gathering, as it will surely provide a great meal for you, your friends and family.
